Team Tibco-To the Top will make its 2012 European debut this week at the Drenthe races in the Netherlands. The U.S. squad will include Olympic long team members Megan Guarnier and Amanda Miller.
“Megan has already gotten off to a great start,” said team founder and manager Linda Jackson. “These first races will be important to her and Amanda’s Olympic ambitions, and to establish the team as one to contend with in Europe.”
Guarnier and Miller have been in Europe since late February with the U.S. National Team. Both riders are among the 13 women vying for four Olympic places in London later this year.
Samantha Schneider will join the team from her national team assignment and Lauren Hall, Jennifer Purcell and Jennifer Wheeler will make their first European starts this week.
“These are hard races, but there will be plenty of opportunities for the team… Team Tibco has a good mix of fast finishers and riders who can be in a breakaway, yet still be fast at the finish line,” said sport director Angela van Smoorenberg.
“The team goals are clear: ride offensively, get into a breakaway, and if the race ends up in a bunch sprint, ride as a team and set a teammate up in good position for the final sprint… All of our riders are fully motivated to show the European peloton their strength.”
